GAIL provides 18 CNG vehicles for waste collection to Bengaluru municipality

Bengaluru: Lending support to the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ in the city, GAIL (India) Limited today handed over 18 four-wheel CNG ‘Dry Waste Collection Vehicles’ worth Rupees one crore to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

The vehicles were flagged off by Gaurav Gupta, Administrator of BBMP and Manjunath Prasad, Commissioner, BBMP in the presence of P Murugesan, Executive Director (Southern Region), GAIL (India) Limited and Vivek Wathodkar, Chief General Manager (CGD), GAIL Gas Limited.

The vehicles, provided under GAIL’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, are going to be used for dry waste collection. They run on dual fuel, i.e., compressed natural gas (CNG) and petrol. CNG is an environment-friendly fuel which is cheaper than conventional fuels and reduces maintenance cost too.

GAIL Gas Limited is supplying CNG in Bengaluru along with piped natural gas for households and industries. GAIL owns and operates the Dabhol – Bengaluru natural gas pipeline and is presently executing the Kochi – Kottanad – Bengaluru – Mangaluru pipeline project which is nearing completion.
