India Medical Show held at Parade Ground, Chandigarh

Over 180 companies displaying technologies useful for the healthcare industry Chandigarh: The 2nd edition of India Medical Show (IMS 2019) was inaugurated at the Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh on 26 April, 2019 by Dr G Dewan, Director, Health Service, Chandigarh. The exhibition is highly useful for the medical and healthcare professionals. Protection of the Himalayas is highly required: Bhikkhu Sanghasena The  Chandigarh  chapter of Save the Himalayas Foundation (SHF) was formally launched on 2nd April, 2019 at Doon Public School, Sector 21, Panchkula by Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Founder President, Mahabodhi International Meditation Center (MIMC), Leh. Sanghasena founded SHF in 2016 with the aim of protecting the land, nature, people, culture and values of the Himalayan region. It focuses on glacier melt due to climate change; developing clean and renewable sources of energy; and promoting responsible, sustainable and eco-friendly tourism. Harby Singh presents new song ‘Badami Rang’

Harby Singh, a budding Punjabi singer, has come up with his new song ‘Badami Rang’. The song is a romantic dance number, shot in Bali , Indonesia . It has been released under the Zee Music label. ‘Badami Rang’ is a Punjabi dance number, which is already getting massive response on youtube and other social media platforms. The song has been produced by Harshit Paul and directed by Shubh Karman. Lyrics are given by Jeet Aman, while the music is given by Jaymeet. Narrating his initial days of struggle with the media at Chandigarh in the last week of March, 2019, Harby said, “My parents did not support me for the first two years. They wanted me to pay attention towards my studies. But I used to skip classes to do my ‘riyaaz’. They were unsure if this field could give me a secure future. But when my relatives started praising my singing to my father, one day he asked me how much money will a song shoot cost. That’s when my parents finally started believing in me and my singing.

Saving the Himalayas an urgency: Bhikkhu Sanghasena The whole world is troubled by global warming. Scientists are trying to figure out why the global temperature is changing so rapidly. In the meantime, one reason has come to light that short shelf life of our clothes is also responsible for the menace of global warming. According to the statistics of World Economic Forum, nowadays people randomly wear a cloth for a longer time. Clothes are cheaper day by day and are thrown out very soon. Clothing sales have been increasing faster than world GDP. In the year 2000, 50 billion clothes were sold in the world, while in 2015 this number swelled to 100 billion. Due to this, mountains of garbage have come up everywhere. Faculty Development Programme concluded

The Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED), Chandigarh, conducted a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on behalf of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), in active association of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran in the last week of February, 2019. FDP aims at equipping teachers with knowledge and skills that are essential for inculcating entrepreneurial values in students and guiding and monitoring their progress towards entrepreneurial career. Through this FDP, 34 faculty members of different colleges and university in the field of entrepreneurship were trained. Prof. PN Hricheekesha was the chief guest of the valedictory function, which was also attended by Dr. Rajdeep Singh, Director, CEC, Landran, Prof Manish Mahajan, HOD, CSE, Paramjit Singh, Director, RCED and Balbir Singh, Advisor, RCED.  The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between RCED and CGC Landran.

5 golf players selected at Chandigarh will now go to Europe

India ’s growing strength in junior golf has been amplified with the qualification of as many as 32 players in various age-group competitions under the global banner of the US Kids Golf. They include five kids, Ayan Dubey, Bhavesh Nirvan, Arshwant Shrivastav, Ayesh Gupta and Rhea Gupta, who performed well at the US Kids Golf India Tour held at Chandigarh recently. The 32 players comprise 20 boys and 12 girls, who are now eligible with Priority Status for US Kids global events in Europe and some of them will also be eligible for World Championships, depending on their status. Of the five categories of Priority Status, Burgundy status holders will be eligible for US Kids World Championships and 13 of the 32 Indian players have earned the Burgundy status on the basis of their scoring.
