Bhikkhu Sanghasena gets ‘International Award of Excellence’

New Delhi: World renowned Buddhist Spiritual leader, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, founder President and Spiritual Director, Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), Leh-Ladakh, was honoured with the “Respect Age International Award of Excellence 2019” at a special program held at India International Centre.

The award was presented to Ven Sanghasena for his tireless services to the people of Ladakh particularly the old and destitute. He is also the founder president of Save the Himalayas Foundation.

While expressing gratitude to the Respect Age International Foundation, Sanghasena said that service to the old and destitute is one among the highest blessings taught by Lord Buddha and urged everyone to ensure that none of the old persons should remain homeless and disrespectful.

It may be noted that the MIMC campus in Leh has a special wing for old persons where they are provided with food, clothes, healthcare and shelter round the year. The Devachan campus, spread in 250 acre area, also comprises of a residential school for boys, girls, and hostels for blind children, young monks, nuns, a meditation retreat and an international guest house.

Dr Karan Singh, former Governor of Jammu & Kashmir and former Indian Ambassador to USA, while addressing a public function had recommended the name of Bhikkhu Sanghasena for Nobel Peace Prize for his outstanding achievement of humanitarian services.

Steephan from Kerala creates record in identifying 119 types of dinosaurs

  Alappuzha, Kerala : The record for identifying the maximum number of species of dinosaurs was set by Steephan Varghese Sony from Alappuzha, Kerala. Steephan who now lives in Abu Dhabi (UAE), identified the pictures of 119 dinosaurs, with their correct names, within 5 minutes and 29 seconds, at an young age of 5 years, 5 months and 13 days, as confirmed on December 12, 2020 by the India Book of Records. Steephan (born on June 29, 2015) is titled as ‘Grand Master’ for identifying the maximum number of species of dinosaurs. He was keenly interested in animals since childhood and was fond of watching dinosaur fossils videos on YouTube. He also liked to collect dinosaur toys at his home.
